Agriculture science and technology is designed to improve human performance
through education and training in food and environmental systems
101-Intro
to World Ag Science & Technology - Introduces beginning students in
agricultural science to global agriculture. Includes career development
in ag, leadership, communications & personal science.
102-Applied Ag Science & Technology. Enhances the agricultural comprehension
of beginning students in ag science. Includes soils, plants, animals,
ag construction, food science, supervised ag experience & leadership.
121-Ag Mechanics. Designed to introduce special population students to
basic safety, theory, and skill development in ag mechanics. Include hand
& power tools, building materials, building & fence construction,
concrete construction, electric & oxyfuel cutting & welding, ag
equipment maintenance, installation & maintenance of water, sanitation,
and electrical systems.
222-Home Maintenance&Improvement. Prepares student to improve &
maintain the urban or rural home and adjacent buildings. It further prepares
students to analyze repair needs & use approved safety techniques.
231-Animal&Plant Production. Includes principles of animal and plant
production and the management of soils as related to agriculture.
241-Food Technology. Concerns the world food production; the processing,
preparing, and packaging of foods; government regulations regarding foods;
exploring occupational opportunities; and leadership development.
261-Intro to Horticultural Science. Introduces students to horticulture
sciences with emphasis on technical skills, entrepreneurship, and occupational
opportunities.
281-Energy&Environmental Technology. Explore interrelationships of
people and natural resources with special emphasis on conservation and
protection.
312-Personal Skill Development in Agriculture. Comprehensive course in
developing agricultural leadership, citizenship, and cooperation. Includes
topics in personal development, employee/employer relations, and group
and interpersonal communication skills.
313-Entrepreneurship in Agriculture. Designed to acquaint the student
with entrepreneurial opportunities in the American system of agribusiness.
Includes units concerning the nature of entrepreneurship, economic principles,
business records, capital resources, insurance, business laws, promotion
strategies, human resource management, application of computers and components
of a business plan.
321-Ag Structures Technology. Prepares students to maintain, evaluate,
design an build ag structures using approved construction techniques.
322-Ag Metal Fabrication Technology. Develops skills in metal equipment
assembly and joining processes.
323-Ag Power Technology. Designed to develop skills in selection, operation
and maintenance of small air-cooled engines, multi-cylinder engines, hydraulic
motors, electric motor, and ag machinery and tractors.
331-Diversified Ag. Emphasizes selecting, producing, and marketing diversified
enterprises. Recordkeeping, integrated systems, career opportunities,
and leadership are included.
332 -Animal Science. Develops knowledge and skills pertaining to the nutrition,
reproduction, health and management of domestic animals.
332H-Advanced Animal Science. For students wishing to advance their understanding
of animal science. The interrelated human, scientific, and technological
dimensions of livestock production is examined. Students expand their
knowledge of the scientific and technological dimensions of resources
necessary for animal production.
333-Plant & Soil Science. Examines soil & plant relationships
that affect the production of food & fiber.
333H-Advanced Plant & Soil Science. For students who wish to advance
understanding of soil and plant science. Students examine the interrelated
human, scientific, and technological dimensions of crop production using
the resources of land, soil, water, energy, and living organisms. Students
expand knowledge of the scientific and technological dimensions of resources
necessary for crop production.
361-Landscape Design, Construction, & Maintenance. Prepares students
to design, construct, and maintain planted areas and devices for the beautification
of home grounds and other areas of human habitation and recreation.
381-Wildlife&Recreation management. Examines the importance of wildlife
and outdoor recreation with emphasis on using wildlife and natural resources.
Related
Organizations
The FFA chapter participates in a variety of activities including judging
teams in various areas. Students who are members of FFA are eligible to
show at livestock shows. Members
