The Technology
Department has 1 general purpose computer lab. The High School Lab has
19 student computers and is used mostly by students in grades 7 - 12.
A PLATO lab is equipped with 10 computers and is dedicated to use by students
who are enrolled in PLATO coursework.
A CEI lab is equipped with 6 computers and is dedicated the the use of
CEI software.
Elementary grades K-3 have access to the Waterford Reading Systemin a
lab setting. These computers are not on the LAN but run on a separate
network.There are 12 computers on the Waterford network.
One
videoconferencing unit is available at the district level.
The department has evolved from 1 borrowed TRS80 in 1987 to an 80+ computer
LAN connecting the entire disrict in 2002. The bulk of the infrastructure,
hardware and software has been acquired via TIF grants. The district is
connected to the EDLINK12 WAN which also serves as the ISP for the district.
All computers connected to the LAN have Internet access. Internet access
using district equipment is available only after the user has returned
the Accepable Use Policy. Required filtering is provided by EDLINK 12.
