Professional Development

Professional Development in the area of technology will be offered during the 2006-2007 school year in the following areas.

August

 

Turn the Tables – (2 days) used to help teachers utilize tables and other word processing features to quickly create pleasing lessons, lesson plans, newsletters, fliers, etc. that are easily adaptable from year to year.
Target Audience:  All teachers / administration / support personnel

 

 

 

Spinning Your Web (2 –days) – Introduction to the basics of web design using Macromedia DreamWeaver. Will incorporate concepts used in tables to design basic web pages.  Will allow teachers to set up classroom web pages and update quickly and easily using basic word processing skills.
Target Audience:  All teachers / administration / support personnel

 

 

 

Implementing Curriculum Software into Lesson Plans (3 hour session, 3 hour lab) Effective usage of A+ and Milliken will be covered.  An introduction to purpose and general features will be covered.  Detailed instruction will include entering students, and making assignments.  Teachers will have hands on time to enter students and make introductory assignments.
Target Audience:  All elementary /jh teachers

 

 

 

E Grades with EClass ( 3 hour session) (Useful even for the experienced EClass user.) Basic features of EClass gradebooks will be covered. Upgrades in EClass software will have added features and a slightly different setup from previous years.
Target Audience:  All teachers

 

 

September - April

 

Keeping the Web Spinning (1 hour update session, (bi-monthly)) – Each session will add features of Macromedia Dreamweaver for teachers to use in designing more elaborate web pages.
Target Audience:  All teachers / administration / support personnel

 

 

 

Using Curriculum Software Grading Functions (1 hour update/practicum session (monthly)) Printing reports, evaluating progress will allow the teacher to use more individualized learning for each student.  Curriculum software special features will be the focus.
Target Audience:  All elementary /jh teachers

 

 

 

Importing and Exporting from EClass (1 hour update session each six weeks)  Focus will be on helping teachers use features of EClass to ensure that grades are accurately submitted.  Special attention to reports and comments will be given.
Target Audience:  All teachers

 

 

 

Additional training may be scheduled.  Teachers should submit topics they would like to see covered in training. Scheduling will be set when a need arises.
Individual training may be offered to teachers who indicate a specific need.  This training would be on an as needed or as desired basis, usually during a teacher’s conference/planning period and would not be counted for credit.

 

 

 

WISD is evaluating strategies for the use of incentives for teachers who attend more than the 6 hours of professional development in technology and maintain updated web pages throughout the school year.
