About Us
The Walnut Springs ISD Police Department was established in January 2024. It is committed to supporting the district’s mission by providing service-oriented enforcement of the law, maintaining the peace, and protecting our school community. Walnut Springs ISD Police officers strive to serve, educate, and provide a safe and secure learning environment for the students and staff. The safety of our children is our number one priority.


MISSION
The mission of the Walnut Springs ISD Police Department is to deliver professional, school-based law enforcement services through proactive safety planning, prevention, preparedness, and protection, while maintaining the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and professionalism. By emphasizing campus visibility, relationship-based policing, and strong partnerships with district leadership, educators, students, families, and community partners, we foster trust, respond swiftly and effectively to concerns, deter threats, and contribute to a positive school culture where learning can thrive without disruption or fear.
What does a School Resource Officer do?
A school resource officer (SRO) works on a TRIAD concept, viewing the SRO in the roles of a teacher, counselor, and law enforcement officer.

A visible, active law enforcement figure on campus dealing with any law related issues.

Classroom resource for instruction in law related education, violence diffusion, safety programs, alcohol and drug prevention , crime prevention, and other areas.

Member of the faculty and administrative team working hand in hand to solve problems in the school community.

Resource for the students which will enable them to be associated with a law enforcement figure in the student's environment.

Resource to teachers, parents, and students for conferences on an individual basis, dealing with individual problems or questions.

Counseling resource in areas which may affect the educational environment but may be of a law related nature.
